Based on Homer’s Odyssey
Multilingual, surtitled in French and English

Le présent qui déborde is an odyssey, the odyssey of these women, men and children who cross borders in search of a safe place where they might survive and start their life over again. Christiane Jatahy went to film them on their route, in transit points and refugee camps in Palestine, Greece, Lebanon, South Africa, and Amazonia. She then turned these images into a film that would become a play, or rather a play that would become a film. At the crossroads of theatre and cinema, fiction and documentary, past and present.

“Because her dramatic vocabulary is always finely balanced between reality and fiction, Christiane Jatahy, whose striking What if They Went to Moscow featured in last season’s programme, creates her very own universe. Because the audience at La Comédie applauded her Chekhovian-Brazilian opus so much, we wanted to enjoy this unique artist’s passion and strength again.” NKDM
