Operation 2 x L’Alakran (and 2 x Lars von Trier)

A diptych by controversial film producer Lars von Trier. A prolific theatre director, impertinent and radical, Oscar Gómez Mata. A team of unbridled actors and actresses. After watching The Boss of it All (“Direktøren for det hele”), we decided to reinterpret it. Then we thought we wanted even more, we wanted it and them to carry on, with the whole team and Lars von Trier, here. Hence, we are presenting two shows with the same casting, two projects like a double shot of caffeine at Comédie de Genève.

Le Royaume is an adaptation of a series by Lars von Trier (“Riget/The Kingdom”). The Danish producer deconstructs the codes of medical drama just like Oscar Gómez Mata takes inspiration from the Théâtre du Grand-Guignol to better thwart clichés and offer a work on the clash of culture between ultra-rationalist doctors and ghosts in distress. A scenario that verges on sci-fi and burlesque to observe our often-absurd-looking world under a magnifying glass.
