Wondering how to greet a veiled woman at the Blausee

28 nov - 06 dec 2019 | Grande salle | Durée : 2h30

Pièces de guerre en Suisse

Antoinette Rychner / Maya Bösch

The title brings together in almost comical fashion the image of war with that of Swiss neutrality. With a clear reference to British writer Edward Bond’s The War Plays, the author and the stage director, both of them Swiss, address contemporary Switzerland, its relationship with itself, the world, others, change and our desire (not) to change, to be both unique and open, and our national and personal contradictions and questions.

“We want to talk about the here and now, reflect on what Switzerland is, how to live in this country today with its apparent and relative prosperity in the face of the world’s ups and downs, sometimes right at our doorstep. We were touched and impressed by this bold, long text that stages our relationship with this beautiful and contrasted land full of generosity and thuja hedges. How can we live and (not) die here? It’s a vast issue, covered with mischief and depth in this project whose underlying humour contrasts with the bellicose title.” NKDM
